Cornstarch makes our Fleshlights velvety smooth again
When you buy a Fleshlight, one of the first things you’ll notice is the silky-smooth feeling of the sleeve. To keep it this way for as long as possible, you’ll not only need to clean your masturbator as regularly as possible, but also take certain steps to maintain it. The Fleshlight manufacturer ILF has now developed the Fleshlight Renewing Powder to handle this maintenance of the sleeve surface.
The cleaning powder is applied to the sleeve after washing once the sleeve is dried out. The well-known velvet smooth feeling, which makes the best of the SuperSkin material, is then maintained over a long period of time.
In this review I’d like to introduce you to the care product and give you some general tips on the best way to apply it. I’ve also aimed to answer the question as to whether this care powder is needed at all and whether there’s any better alternatives out there on the market. If you’d like to share your own experiences, ask any questions or leave any comments, feel free to drop a note at the bottom of this page.
Why is Fleshlight Renew Powder so important?
The patented Real Feel SuperSkin™ material is an elastomer-platic blend. This makes the sleeve incredibly soft and elasticated, but also means that it can become incredibly sticky when exposed to residue.
If your sleeve is not exercised regularly, you’ll feel the stickiness begin to take hold after as little as three cleans. This stickiness also acts like a magnet to dust, lint, hair and dirt. This is not only unpleasant, but can dramatically affect your enjoyment.
The joy of masturbation is quickly lost, even if you know that the sleeve has been cleaned and disinfectant. In short, it negates the whole point of owning a Fleshlight in the first instance.
What is Fleshlight Renew Powder?
The Fleshlight Renewing Powder is a powder used for the care of Fleshlight inserts, which consists of 100% cornstarch. It is distributed b the Fleshlight manufacturer ILF.
The powder is delivered in a practical can. Standing 15cm high with a diameter of just 5cm, the can is incredibly discreet. After opening the lid, you can see how easy the powder can be applied. Underneath the lid, there is a sprinkling device with five holes.
The original product is delivered sealed. Before use, you must peel off a plastic flap to open the lid. The plastic label features instructions in four different languages. The application and contents are visible in English, German, Spanish and French.
A total quantity of 118ml of powder is included. The product is manufactured by Seville-based Fleshlight International SL and ILF LLC.
Misleading product name
Unfortunately, the product name is slightly misleading. Once automatically thinks of baby powder, hardly what you’d expect for the purpose of this agent.
Before ILF bought out the Fleshlight Renewing Powder, I even rummaged around and tried different types of talcum and powder varieties. Unfortunately, in my efforts I ruined three different sleeves. I’ve broken down the reasons for this in the next section of this review.
My personal review of the Fleshlight Renewing Powder
Every Fleshlight is unique
My Fleshlight collection has been an expensive investment. All in all, I’ve quite an expensive collection and don’t like to miss out on the best pick of new releases. With so many models on the market, my Fleshlight collection is a real treasure trove and I hold it dear. Many of the older textures are no longer available since ILF discontinued production, meaning that some of my favourite products are essentially irreplaceable.
This is just one reason why I prize my collection so much and take cleaning and maintenance very seriously. I don’t want one of my sleeves to become unusable or damaged because of improper care. After many experiments in Fleshlight maintenance, I’ve become a convert of Fleshlight Renewing Powder, a product that consists of pure cornstarch. Since using this product, none of my sleeves have broken.
Don´t use talcum powder (talc) or baby powder!
Some years ago, the Fleshlight Renewing Powder had not yet hit the market. There were any tips online on what to do combat the stickiness of sleeves. Even today, there are still a few savvy suggestions out there, which suggests everyday talcum and baby powder from a drug store can achieve the desired effect.
I’ve tried dozens of alternatives in my time and can insist with some conviction hat you shouldn’t be experimenting with talcum or baby powder. I am delighted that ILF is now offering a product tailored toward the care of SuperSkin material.
My three ruined inserts were initially showing some wear and tear, with barely visible dry spots that were getting bigger and bigger over time. In the areas with high bending stress, the material cracked and the sleeve itself could have very easily tore.
I believe that baby powder contains perfumes and oils that can seriously damage a Fleshlight insert. When using pure talcum powder, I’m often concerned about the exact contents of the care product. Some talcum has been observed to contain traces of asbestos – hardly something you want to expose sensitive parts of your body to.
I would therefore recommend not using baby powder or talc in the maintenance of your Fleshlight inserts. It’s not just about preventing your sleeves from exposure to harmful chemicals, but also from preventing your SuperSkin surface from becoming blunted and unsuitable for stimulation.
It’s incredibly easy to give into the lure of purchasing cheap talcum powder from an everyday drug store, especially when you compare the price to tailored cleaning solutions. However, the thought of what might lie in the chemical make-up of such powder isn’t exactly a turn on, especially when you’re exposing something as sensitive as your penis to it.
Fleshlight Renewing Powder make from organic cornflour
Corn flour is a much more appealing alternative to talc. It’s completely organic and contains no artificial ingredients, and is often used in the manufacturing of food products. Corn flour is a common thickening agent used in soups, sauces and other everyday consumables. The starch, which is washed out of cornmeal, is free from contamination and is constantly tested by food standard agencies to prove it’s safe for human consumption.
However, every advantage comes with its drawbacks. Since the corn starch is an organic product, it can quickly draw in moisture. This means that you have to rinse your sleeve thoroughly, disinfect it with Fleshwash and allow it to dry thoroughly. There must be no excess moisture in the inner channel when you douse your sleeve with Fleshlight Renewing Powder. If there is, you chance encouraging the growth of mold and other bacteria. This should be avoided like the plague.
I advise you to invest that little bit more in Fleshlight Renewing Powder rather than other alternatives and only apply it on the outside of your Fleshlight sleeves.
Do I have powder the inner channel?
Many years ago, I opted to powder the entire texture of my sleeves, inside and out. I rolled the sleeve inside and out and applied a thorough dusting of the stuff. However, it turns out my efforts were completely unnecessary.
The channel itself does not need any powder. Since starch favours mold growth, it is not recommended to add any organic substance to the canal because of any residual moisture. Before the new application, only a few drops of Fleshlube or water-based lube are sufficient to prepare the inner channel for your next round of masturbation.
Using less renewing powder not only saves you money, but it also saves your sleeves from premature wear and tear.
Test Summary of Fleshlight Care Powder
I can only offer my own recommendations, but I have to say, Fleshlight Renewing Powder is a tool you definitely want in your arsenal. It’s relatively expensive, but yields impressive results. If you want to stay on the safe side and keep your beloved Fleshlight inserts in tip-top condition for as long as possible, it’s the only way to go.
It always amazes me how quickly the effects of using this powder take hold. After a single application, you’ll notice the difference immediately. There’s no stickiness that affects the tug and grip of your Fleshlight, leaving the interior soft and velvety smooth – just the way you want it. Dust, hair and dirt will also no longer be a problem, leaving your SuperSkin material feeling like new.
One disadvantage is of course that starch promotes mold growth. To avoid this, make sure you let your sleeves dry thoroughly and only powder the outsides when performing Fleshlight maintenance. It’ll bolster the stress points and bends of your sleeve, strengthening them for future thrusting and ensuring it remains in premium condition for as long as possible.
With the right care and application of the right products, your beloved Fleshlights will serve their purpose for many years to come.
